Computer Programmer
Computer programmers usually work in offices with comfortable surroundings or, if they're freelance programmers, they work from home. Many programmers work long hours or even weekends fix critical problems that occur during off hours. Given the technology available, telecommuting is becoming common for a wide range of computer professionals, including programmers. As networks expand, more and more programmers will be able to make fix problems remotely by using modems, e-mail, and the Internet to connect to a customer’s computer network. Not unlike other workers who spend long periods in front of a computer typing at a keyboard, programmers are susceptible to eyestrain, back problems, and hand and wrist conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive motion health problems. Obviously a sedentary lifestyle can lead to obesity and increase the risk of heart and other cardiovascular problems such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). |
